Sweatshops

Sweatshops were very crowded and filthy. There were lots of accidents. Immigrants worked there because they had no were else to work. Employees had to put up with abuse. The immigrants had to live in filthy apartments. When one immigrant woman saw the apartment she was supposed to live in she said:
"So we have crossed half the world for this!"
